Following up the successful conferences in Novi Sad (2013), Tróia (2016), Poznań (2019) and Granada (2023), the 5th International Legume Society conference was organised by the International Legume Society in cooperation with the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture and took place on 8 – 12 June 2026, in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The ILS5 Conference was an opportunity to share the latest advances and innovations in the field of legumes, learn about the latest industry offerings and network with colleagues and experts from around the world.
The scientific sessions included presentations by international legume experts in breeding and genomics, high throughput phenotyping, cropping systems, biotic and abiotic stess resistances, health and nutrition, pulse crop value chains, and more.
Aurélie Tournan from Donau Soja joined the panel discussion on the first evening on ‘Legume-Based Value Chains’. Legume Generation was strongly presented with poster presentations about each innovation community, a general introduction to the project and the Legume Hub. Additionally, Sanu Arora from John Innes Centre gave an oral presentation about ‘Resolving a decades-old mystery: Molecular identification of the fusarium wilt resistance locus FW in pea’ in the Thursday’s afternoon session: Understanding and enhancing legume crop tolerance to biotic stresses.
Dubrovnik is described as one of the most famous destinations in the Mediterranean, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in recognition of its outstanding mediaeval architecture and fortified old town.
