In September of 2026, the British Society of Plant Pathologists held their annual conference at the John Innes Centre in Norwich, UK, bringing together plant pathologists from across the world to share latest research on plant-microbe interactions, innate immunity, and disease resistance engineering. Sanu Arora and Mishi Vachev from the Pea Innovation Community each presented their work from Legume Generation aimed at identifying new sources of resistance in pea. Sanu delivered a presentation on leveraging k-mer- and pangenome-based methods to uncover underlying disease resistance previously undetectable with other methods. Mishi shared a poster on a novel locus for powdery mildew resistance identified using phenotypic data collected by Ana Campa and Juan Jose Ferriera Fernandez, Legume Generation partners from SERIDA.
